Front brake pads --help!
Okay, so I got towed because I need a new battery. But now the dealer says my front brake pads are near minimum and probably won't pass state inspection in August. He's charging $350 for the brake pads but says they'll have a lifetime warranty (the pads, not labor). The car has around 24K and I do a lot of short-distance driving. Should I replace them now or wait to see if they pass inspection later? This same dealer replaced the rear brake pads last year. Thanks for any advice!
how would the pads have a lifetime warranty? pads last about 50k miles at best most of the time. is this a buy where the place you purchase the pads from will give you new pads everytime you need them as long as you pay for labor costs?
$350 for just front pads???? They're raping you. The pads themselves only cost $40, and it shouldn't take more than 1-1.5 hrs labor to do it. Even with rotors being replaced, $350 would be high.
You have state inspections where they measure your brake pads, or is your dealer feeding you one major line...They'd have to take the wheel off to get in and inspect the brake pad thickness. how long does this inspection take?
