Flip out key for a 05 mazda 6

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this. I want to buy a flip out key for my 05 Mazda 6, but the dealership says it will not work with my car because of the different chip that my car has. While looking on ebay they show the key will work on my car ??? [>:]You guys have anything on this?

I'm trying to call one of these companies that sells the keys on eBay. They claim it works with an 05 so I'm trying to find out how they know. My dealership has no clue. Anyone else try this yet?

You can. The new key will have to be programmed for your car.

I just bough a new, uncut key off Ebay for my 2007 Mazda 6 and went today to the Dealership to get it cut and programmed. The key cost me $55.00 with shipping off Ebayand the Dealership charged me $56.00 to cut it and program it. I was a little annoyedbecausewhen I gotit back, my new key didn't flip up easily - I guess they did something to it accidentally during cutting but I didn't complain since I only got it to have a spare key. Anyway - I think I saved about $40 or $50 by not buying it from the Dealership.

The Ebay store I got it from was called remotesupermarket.

Just make sure they specify the key is UNCUT and is specific to the YEAR MODEL of your car. They were quick at returning my emails and I am pleased with my purchase from them. They also sent me directions on a procedure to program they key myself by turning the ignition on and off and pressing door buttons and such but I felt more comfortable having the dealership do it. They said if you didn't follow the procedure correctly both keys could become inoperable.

Also, I think you only have to worry about all the programming if the car has the immobilizer system on it but I'm not really sure about that. Hope this helps.
Steve :)
