Exhaust Manifold Leak Video 3.0 V6

This is what a leaky exhaust manifold sounds like. Stock manifold. They actually blocked the tailpipes and heard pressure in this area. The sound is originating from here as well. It is really loud when cold, heats up quickly, then quiets down.

Well it turns out to be more complicated. One of the exhaust flanges has come apart from the manifold. I have to get it towed to Mazda. They will put in for a warranty claim coverage. The exhaust manifold and pre-cat assy is all in one assembly. I may know tomorrow. The flange is a different material than tube, so welding is not going to last. If warranty not approved, making a new flange of the same material may be an option.

WARRANTY APPROVED! SWEET! Should be done early next week. I still have to pay for removal from my favorite aftermarket shop and towing to Mazda.

What a stupid idea to combine a manifold with a cat, makes for easier production maybe but not repairs. Glad its under warranty though :D

Done

Picked up car today. All new parts: Studs, Gasket, Exhaust Manifold with Pre-Cat attached to it.
After picking it up, i disconnected the battery to re-set ECU. Let the re-learning process begin. I'm sure i have been driving for a long time with it leaking. When it leaks, extra oxygen is being entered thru the exhaust, then the O2 sensors reads lean and then the ECU responds with more fuel. I should get better gas mileage now. I am surprised that this did not throw a CEL code.
