Default Driving Noise, "Woo Woo"

I have a 04 ' Mazda 6, V6, Sport Sedan, 5 Speed, about 72K miles

I dont wanna sound like an idiot, but its the only way i can describe the sound, when i drive , after about 10min, and around 40-50mph, my car starts making a "Woo Woo" sound (That progressivley gets worse with speed) , coming from the front left tire. ** sounding identicle to a tire balance/rotation problem -- i thought it was my tires, i had them balanced and rotated, sound remains

So im contimplating on changing out some parts, so far, i know its a friction point , because , when i start out in the morning, for about the first 5min im on the highway, it doesnt do it, but i guess after it warms up (hence me saying friction point) it starts the "woo woo" sound, I've inspected my rotors, they are not warped, I've also inspected my pads, and have applied the brake while the noise is occuring, and it continues (brakes/rotors ruled out). I have also turned on and off my TCS while driving, ruled that out as well. Also ruled out a wheel mis-alingment, my steering wheel doesnt wobble and/or pull to left or right.

-- Does any one have a similiar problem , could it be Wheel Bearing, or Axle, or Cv, or Loose Tie Rod, or Ball End, or Stabalizer Arm, going bad

please help, i dont want my problem to get worse, i wanna fix it , before it gets serious

I actually have a noise like that on my car, it took me a while to figure it out but I had a bent rim. That sound could also be a wheel bearing. when the noise happens turn the wheel and see if it goes away or weakens. If it does then you might have a wheel bearing problem. The part I dont get is that it only starts making the noise after 10 mins of driving, thats kind of weird.

04maz6 has some very good ideas...I think it could be a wheel bearing. I just don't see why a bent rim would make noise after it warms up. Plus when they balanced it they should have been able to tell and if it was bent it would have been balanced out or if they couldn' tthey would have told you. Also check the weights inside the rim from when they balanced it. If there is a lot of weights then it was bent. My rim is bent, but I had it balanced and they actually were able to balance it out but I have a lot of weights on one side...Just my 2 cents...

2nd the motion. Bent rim woulda been found on rebalancing & problem would've moved when you rotated tires. I'd say its wheel bearing over CV joint. CV's make more of a click click noise..especially during cornering & the 10 min's til noise occurs isnt as strange as you may think. Figure it takes about 10 mins for grease to really heat up & then bearing will get noisy & looser as parts heat up & metal expands. Let us know what u find

Great diagnosis, when my friend had the same with problem with the click click sound after a couple of minutes drive his dealer found out that it was his wheel bearing... The dealer just my friend's GM wheel bearing and was fix immediately... Good luck with yours...

long time i read this, but i figured out what it was

it was exactly what i thought it was ..

my very first guess, its the bearing inside the spindle.
when it starts to go bad/ loose lubrication (grease) the bearings make a humming noise ( like what i described in my forum) ... its an easy fix (by mechanic only) because Mazda bearings (located inside the spindles) are pressed in and pressed out with a machine (cant be don't by hand, and if you do attempt it your only gonna end up breaking the spindle)

just have someone test drive it , (mechanic) before u jump to any conclusions ... i have heard that it can also be a broken boot ,(located on the axle)... inspect your boots, and make sure they are full of grease, and that the grease feels mushy, not clunky and dry ....

but in the end to answer your question it was my bearing inside the spindle at 80k miles ...

also , if your going to do one side, i would strongly suggest you do both sides , just because they have almost identical life expectancy , so eventually the other side will go bad sooner than later
