Does anybody own a MPS6

Considering buying one and am interested in knowing how the engine is holding up, any problems, fuel economy?

RE: Does anybody own a MPS6

I have owned one for a week now (right, MPS6 is the Mazdaspeed6 *I googled it). It is mildly used (1-2 months)(2500 miles), but only cause it got repossessed. I have been looking for problems and squeaks and crap.

My only complaint is that the rotors have surface rust that looks like crap. I am brushing it off this weekend, but that is a pain in the rear. I figure it was just from sitting, I hope it does not come back. No warranty claim, it happens to most cars suspension parts and all if they sit for a bit.

Hmm, I love the car but the fuel economy, I think this week I got 220 miles/ 15 gallons... 15 miles per gallon. Wow that sucked worse than I thought. Well I was basically testing how fast it goes from 0-60 everywhere I went. I am being more economical with this tank.

The rotors WILL appear to have a reddish surface rust (if you're talking about what I think you are)... I noticed it on mine and asked the dealer about it, when my car was only a few months old. It is actually oxygenation (or something like that) from water and brake dust combining together b/c of the way it is desiged. It will do this whenever you wash the car or it rains. It will kinda come off if you scrub at it....but will come all the way off once you drive the car and the rotors clean themself off. You shoudn't notice after you drive it for a few miles....it's the way the brakes are designed and there's nothing you can do about it....

I haven't seen a car with silver rotors in so long. MY mom's Mustang has it, my Rx-7 has it, Corvettes have it, EVOs have it, every car wil lget it. No complaint of the speed6, that's just a disc brake thing.
