Cheap grill upgrade/ spray paint?

Okay, all laugh together!
Alright, I'll explain why: My grill and lower front fender grill is old and graying, and I had the brilliant idea to just spray paint it black instead of getting another factory grill. there is nothing worng with the grill, but it is faded and I'd think a dark gloss balck would look nice.

Before I go painting it and then a fwe weeks later it cracks, falkes, fades, etc...is there any paint one could spray on the grill (assuming grill can be taken off) that will properly adhere to the plastic grill?

It sounds so lame, but I was looking for the "el cheapo" route:cool:

You could try Krylon for plastics, but the secret to a good paint job is preparation, preparation, and more preparation.
Then be sure to do it at the right temp and in as dust free and enviroment as possible.

Watch the humidity as well. Don't know what part of the country you're in, but prob not a concern this time of year.

I'd suggest wiping-down the grille before painting. You want to get your skin's oils as well as old wax off the part. I use Klean Strip 'Surface Prep'. It's an aerosol can and you'll find uses for it after your painting project. It works good on wax, grease, etc. It also dissolves nicely, so it won't be a hassle between wipe-down and spray.

And like they say, 2-3 light coats will look a million times better than trying to nail it in one.
