a/c question
alright guys first post/question..and yes i am a new owner for about a month now to a 2006 mazda 6 v6. I love it..i picked it up from North Carolina and drove it back to Texas...anyways....does anyone else feel like the a/c is not really cold as the temp deal says it is? I had my buddy check out the car after the drive home cause i noticed as i drove the a/c was cold and then at idle the a/c seemed not to work....we looked at the radiator and it was clogged with bugs...he sprayed it with a spray bottle and as i sat in the car it was getting cold like it should be....i took the car to a pressure washer and cleaned out the grill and then front pretty well....its been colder but does not feel like 61 or 65 degrees cold...it feels more like a constant 77........something like that around that temp. ..anyone else or anyone have an idea for a fix or what the prob might be?
A couple of things: before worrying about the AC, be sure your engine cooling system is in good shape, and ditto for your accessories drive belts/ tensions.
If the engine "brane thing" decides your engine needs cooling, it will cut out the AC compressor so that the compressor load is dumped and all the fan and rad capacity is dedicated to engine cooling.
It is very typical for the AC to quit with the engine idling hot. Once the engine temperature drops down, the AC compressor will cut back in automatically. If you find the heat unbearable, while you're stopped, just put the gears to neutral or park, and push the engine up to a fast idle of 1500- 1800 rpms; in half a minute or so you should be getting full cold air. You may notice that the AC compressor cuts in for a while, drops out, then cuts in etc.while you are stopped or creeping in heavy traffic on a hot day. This explains why. If the AC does not respond to this treatment, then its time to look at the refrigerant loops.

well it was checked and all but he front was covered in bugs form the long trip...it seems to be doing better when i took a pressure washer cleaned out the front...but still just does not seem like 61 when i place to 61
ok, i'm replacing the compressor because the the old one went out. The pulley is ****-eyed and i'm pretty sure it contaminated the system. Here's the questions: 1. What should i replace other than the accumulator and the compressor?2. How much oil capacity does the compressor require or where can i find that information? I've found 4ounces to compressor and 4 to accumulator, but the compressor will only take 2ounces after cycling the clutch. 3. Anyone know a detailed procedure in replacing all of this or where i can find one? i seem to be just finding bits and pieces... would a haynes repair manual have the information i seek?
Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Hi . Every time when A/C compressor locked up - very good idea to replace with new compressor also Drier/Receiver -/$ 9.95 only / because of possible system contamination with debris . By law you can not discharge freon and can not refill system with freon . Sometimes even Condenser is clogged . You may Flush entire system to be sure everything is clean . Cheers

researched it a ton and filled the pag 100 oil into the compressor, replaced the compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube myself along with part of the line the was stripped out and all of the o-rings on the parts and lines that were disconnected. My mechanic flushed, vacuumed and recharged the system for $60. Now rolling with cold ac. I just need to tighten the belt a little more because it has a low squeal at times.
