Are you looking for a MAP or a MAF?

 

Commonly called a O2 sensor but correctly called Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor in that application.

 

Commonly called? Too funny, I've been working in the automotive world since 99% of all new cars had carburetors and I've never heard of an O2 sensor being referred to as an air/fuel sensor. Not saying you're wrong, just I've never heard the reference.

 

I was there in the 70's ripping limiter caps off the carbs myself back in the day just to get a clean idle out of the engine. Yup, air/fuel ratio.

 

2009 - CX-7 - Engine

AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR, HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) INSPECTION [L3 WITH TC]

NOTE:


•Before performing the following inspection, make sure to follow the procedure as indicated in the troubleshooting flowchart. (See HOW TO USE THIS MANUAL.)


A/F Sensor Current Inspection

1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.

2. Using the M-MDS, monitor the following:

◾Vehicle speed (PID: VSS)


◾Engine speed (PID: RPM)


◾A/F sensor current (PID: O2S11)


3. Drive the vehicle and decelerate the engine speed by releasing the accelerator pedal fully when the engine speed is 3,000 rpm or more.

4. Verify that the A/F sensor current (PID: O2S11) is 0.25 mA or more while decelerating as shown in the figure.


Here shipo, just pulled a few lines from a TSB that mentions the A/F. Made me look twice when I first came across the reference myself. The A/F translates it's information in mA.
