Whenever my 6 gets down to a quater of a tank it will stumble from time to time like its running out of gas. I though maybe some water in the gas tank so I put some dry gas in it. That didn't help. So next I cleaned the induction system and checked the plugs. anyone have any ideas.

I had same problem. It is fuel pump problem.
There were three times of engine lights on after stumble. changing value cover did not help at all. Finally replacing the fuel pump, there is no more issues. I think it is very common on mazda6 either 4 cy or v6. Fuel pump is very expensive and need to order from mazda usa. I hope the new one can last 100,000 miles.

 

What mileage are you at? If the miles are low enough, you should be able to have the pump replaced under warranty.

 

Mine is about 38,000 miles under warranty. Mine is 06 not 07. I got mine during Jan 07.

07 warranty only covers 36000 miles or 3 years. The big complain from dealers would not give me a loaner car even 06 warranty come with Loaner car program.

 

Um I believe that dealers have to give you a loaner while they do warranty work. Though I could be wrong, they have given me a loaner both times I had to take it to them.

 

Actually if you have warranty work being done to your vehicle warranty will only pay for a loaner if your car is rendered undrivable or unsafe. Anything other than that you would have to find your own means of transportation.

 

Interesting and good to know. Though I'd say having to pull the fuel pump makes the car pretty stinking undriveable.
