How did you black out the roof and emblem?

Monkee 10-24-2013 08:41 AM

Roof is vinyl wrapped and I sanded, primered, painted and cleared my front emblem. You can plasti-dip it for which is faster, less perminant but it's more of a matte black.

Join 6 crew, Mazdas247, or Mazda 6 club...more traffic and complete write ups on everything on my car. This forum just gets too little traffic.

Just my opinion... I think grey/gray would be a better color route to compliment the Blue Reflex than black would. I was considering painting my calipers and like how orange looks with the Blue Reflex, but wouldn't do my emblems in orange.

It's been since September '13 since my last mod(exhaust) and after a year of enjoying the stock height, the lowering bug finally bit me! It all started last month when I tried to roll my own fender using an Eastwood fender finisher...now I know why they call it a fender finisher:( After putting a welt in the driver rear fender, I decided to get my fender professionally rolled. I went to my local detail place and called a few painless dent removers and they all said I had to live with the dent:( I didn't give up...a heat gun and 2 cans of condensed air, you can barely even find the once 3 inch crease on the fender...it worked! After hours of searching the interwebs...I came across Tony. His name was mention by so many people in the car community that I called. Tony is Fender Rolled by Tony in Granada Hills, CA. I made an appointment last Thursday and in 1 hour, Tony advised on a fender shave because I DID NOT want to pull my fender or stretch it out. A professional hub mounted roller uses pressure ti roll the fender and it pushes it out a bit. Tony has been doing this for years and has done thousands(no joke) of cars. I almost fainted when he to a cutting wheel to my fender but he was precise and he knew exactly where to cut, how much to leave, and what to cut out. Pm me if you want his number. Thank you, Tony, you are the man!

Tony took 30 minutes on each side, 1 clean cut, no measurements or marking, sanded to a fine OEM finish and feel, and symmetrical on both sides...impressive!
I ordered H&R springs on Friday from Grand Prix Tires in Monterey Park and made an appointment for Monday for install and alignment.

I love the H&R drop of 1.2 front and 1.3 rear with the 245/40/20 tires. It's a perfect gap fill and a good fit all around. If i didn't shave the fender, it would have never fit. The ride feels the same with a little stiffness. I often read "bouncy" but I think the word should be firm. Bouncy would be like my old car which I cut the springs a coil and a half, that car bounced on straight roads, so this is NOT bouncy...just firm. My only regret is that I should have done it sooner.
Thanks to Tony for the fender shave and Chris and the boys at Grand Prix Tires for hooking up every car I've owned with wheels and tires. Grand Prix is the only full service mechanic shop I trust for the past 16 years.

I have a few more tricks up my sleeve. I remember a little over a year ago when I first bought my 6 and went crazy for 2 weeks, I felt that I was the first...but man, everyone is killing it with the mods. Still haven't seen another fixed up 6 in Los Angeles...not even with wheels. I've seen a few more on the road in the past few months. I'll try to keep you all posted.

Hey man what's the size for the LED reverse light? And where do you recommend that I purchase them?

Hey Man, love the motor, she looks great. I was just wondering how much difference the dynamat made. the one thing i dont like about my 2015 6 is the road noise. How much extra weight do you think it added?

Dynamat did not do much for the wind noise...that's a weather strip issue from the factory. It's hard to judge the road noise because my car has exhaust, intake, lowered and with larger wider tires. It did go from an aberage of 76 db to 72 db. I wasn't planning on making it Lexus quiet, but there is less road noise because the music sounds amazing in the cab because of the Dynsmat. Just closing the doors sound solid. We drive a light weight 4 door mid sized sedan that weighs nothing. The weight was shaved off the sheet metal, thinner glass and less electronics and I'm okay with that. I off set the added weight of the Dynamat by not carrying a spare tire. That's why we have Mazda roadside and AAA. I'm sure it was an added 100 lbs. with the Dynamat.

Hey man, really nice car! Mine should arrive mid October (Wagon in Arctic White).

I can't tell it from the pictures, is that an Arctic White or Snowflake White Pearl?

Thanks!
