2008 Mazda 6 engine swap
Hi
I have a 2008 Mazda 6 with the 2.3 non turbo and I have a 2006 Mazda 2.3 low mileage. And I am told the engines will not interchange
is it possible with and modification or parts swapping that they will interchange
any help would be appreciated especially since the engine I got was free and I seen it run beforeit was pulled out of donor car

I may be mistaken, but if you pull all the accessories off the 2008 motor and bolt them up to the 2006 motor, you should be able to make it work.
The above said, if you're pulling a 2.3 motor, there is no way I would ever put another one back in; the engine has a very poor reputation for longevity. Were I in your shoes I'd spend another $500 and buy a nice low mileage Ford Duratec 2.5 liter motor and put that in instead; the motors are virtually identical externally, however, the Ford motor is more powerful, just as fuel efficient, and has a very good reputation for longevity.
