2007 UK car - DPF system stolen from car. Now what?
 

Hi All,
New here and have felt no need to post in the past because my Mazda 6 has just been so damn reliable. But left the car overnight on Tuesday on a road to find that someone had used a grinder to (badly) remove the dpf and rip out the sensors. Apart from wondering what on earth is the UK coming to, I'm now not sure what to do. The parts to fix the car will be £600+ and the car probably isn't worth spending this much. I'm aware that earlier models (2002-2005) did not have the dpf fitted. Would it be possible to just run without one and just fit the older model's cat instead? Oddly my car shows no dpf error light despite me having to drive a noisy 100 miles home without it fitted and it does not drive in limp home mode! I guess it'd fail the MOT but do wonder if this is the case since the DPF was not a requirement on UK cars until 2011, I understand.
