Obviously the speed6 is going to be better but is it really worth it for the price vs the regular 6

 

AWD vs front....much better in the winter
276 hp vs 220hp....much faster acceleration
Mileage is about the same as the Speed6 is a 4-cyl, whereas the 6 has the 3.0L

If you want economy, get a 6i with the 4-cyl 5-speed stick
If you want fun, get the Speed6
If the Speed6 was offered in a Sportwagon, it would already be in my garage.

 

I am happy with my 6i, but who wouldn't want that power?

 

thats my setup. and its economical yes. but very fun as well. spclly with straight pipes ( no mufflers ). its so rev-happy

 

When I was working on the Mazda6 launch, I drove every variation of vehicle and I was very impressed with the power out of the 2.3L in the 6. (At least with the 5-speed stick.)

 

I have a 6s and had to drive the 6i as a rental one time.......I was very unimpressed. why anyone would buy a 2.3 over the 3.0 beats me.

 

I bought the 2.3 because it is a mazda engine first of all so it made me feel somewhat better, and secondly I am getting better gas milage! [:-]
Sometimes I wish I had more power, but most of the time she does just right...

 

I owned 04 mazda 61 and currently just bought 06 mazda 6s. I prefer mazda 6s instead of 4 cy mazda 6i. The gas mileage on mazda 6s is not so good even compare to ford 500(full size car). I guess I would prefer to buy mazda 6s instead of mazda speed6. The maintenance on speed6 will be very expensive and only dealer know how to fix. If AWD is not necessary, mazda 6s is a better choice which is much better than mazda 6i and cheaper than speed6.

 

the speed 6's dont come in 3.0 do they

 

Speed6 is only available with the turbo 2.3L. Why would you want the 3.0L instead?
