2003 6i auto tranny issue

hey guys, i have a 2003 mazda6i 2.3l with and automatic trans. I had it completely rebuilt at 80,000. ever since ive had issues. My question to you is why does it slam into first gear so hard? and it feel a little sloppy. I was told that maybe changing the tranny mounts and/or motor mounts would help resolve it?..... i'm so tired of going back to the transmission place i figured id try to fix this with my own research. I DO drive the car somewhat hard, well i should say firmly..ha... i am just seeking information on tranny mounts motor mounts and why my car sifts so hard into drive. .... it DOES NOT shift hard into reverse when its cold, just drive and after ive driven for a while and the car doesnt sit long it doesnt shift hard into drive. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks so much =)

It does sound like a motor mount issue. It could just be that they are in the wrong position .If they tightened the mount with the engine and trans in the wrong position it will cause bangs and it could cause vibration noises all they would have to do is loosen the center mount bolt and let the engine and trans settle and tighten it back up.

If it's hard to get into the first gear and feel sloppy, then it might be the mount. Try checking it from bottom, it's easier.

Well, keep checking the tranny fluid. Check it's color. Is it a burnt color or brown? If it is, you have a problem. Change the fluid asap. I would take it back to the shop. Trannies are a sophisticated piece of automobile.

thanks so much guys...and yes tranny's are a beast of their own. What should i look for in relation to the motor mounts and would the tranny have any mounts? Oh, and the tranny fluid is nice and clean... ill keep you guys updated with the progress of this problem. And would you replace the mounts yourself if you have 100,000 miles or take it somewhere?

and why does it only do this when the car is cold and not been driven for a while?

There should be 4 mounts on the front and back mounts they are on the bottom the left and right are on top. If it only happens when it is cold it won't be the mounts they are just a piece of rubber so they shouldn't change hot or cold. It almost sound like the servo or clutch pack is draining back into the pan so it will take a little of driving for the pump to pressurize the clutchs. Or you could just have a solenoid problem. I just took mine apart and it doesn't take a lot of dirt for it to act up. Just tell the tranny shop to flush the trans even though the fluid looks good.

not sure about the mazda trannys... but that sounds like u have a bad solenoid in your tranny.. ask ur mechanic to check them. they are cheap to replace.. if you feel confortable with taking your tranny apart on ur own then maybe even cheaper..

my .02 cents
