Worth using Shell v-power diesel

I've heard some people say although it's more expensive, this is offset by lower fuel consumption. Anyone tried it on the 5 Diesel sport?

Fifth Gear just tested it and picked-up about 5 hp in a Golf on the dyno. Couldn't feel a bit of it on the track.
