I had the inner edge wear problem you describe. I had a 4 wheel alignment at just over 6000miles. Since then and after 50000 miles the front tyre wear has been normal.

This has not been the experience with some members who have continued to see abnormal wear. All I can say is that it worked for me. The alignment settings were shown in an attachment to post #511 on the "Tyre Wear on UK Mazda5" Thread.

 

I am on my third set of tires with only 44k miles on my car. Factory set lasted 20k or so. Second set the side walls split (I blame the tires). Maybe 3rd times a charm. I don't drive the car hard at all. I think the 6 grown men (wieghing 185lbs to 215lbs) was too much for the tires??

 

My 2007 Mazda 5 Toyo tires were bald at 34,000 miles.

 

15" & 16" tyres should be 34psi, 17" should be 36psi. Check them every month. Get a wheel alignment every 6 months and get your tyres rotated every 6 months or 10,000kms/6,000miles.

Look after your tyres & they will look after you.

 

Hi folks...first post...just purchased a 2012 Mazda 5 GT. I thought I knew all the cons about this model before buying except for the tire wear issue. Does the negative non-adjustable camber in the rear tires apply to the 2012?

I have 7yr/100K power train and bumper-to-bumper on this car. If the 2012 doesn't have adjustable camber in the rear I will certainly want to install these bars. What exactly will it do the the warranty? I figure if a wheel breaks in half it wont' be covered because of this mod, but say if my A/C goes south, adjustable camber by owner on the rear tires shouldn't void A/C repairs right?

Mazda will leave you to fix things for yourself. The warranty means nothing. It is not the way you treat a customer, however they continue to make money and that's all that matters these days. True if there is an accident, Mazda will claim that you modified their product and therefore voided their liability for the product. I personally feel completely comfortable with the modifications to my Mazda 5 that they do not adversely affect the steering handling or operation of the vehicle in any way, and I would welcome a Mazda engineer to challenge me. They won't say anything though, since it would create the opportunity for a class action lawsuit.

 

Check out the Magnusson-Moss Act. To paraphrase, I believe it says that a company cannot require the use of branded parts in order to maintain the warranty. Also, it cannot void your warranty unless it can prove very specifically that your use of unbranded parts were the cause of an issue.

 

I have a Mazda 5 2009. I haven't got more than 20,000 miles out of any of my tires. I have it alligned at least twice a year, and I am constantly checking my tire pressure. I am about sick of this. I loved my Mazda Protege, but I would not recommend this car to anyone.

 

I ordered these for a 2012 Mazda 5...contacted the seller and he said they should work.

Is this something I can do in my driveway? Seems to be good timing as our local Mazda dealer is offering $100 any service until the end of the month, so I'm assuming the $100 4 wheel alignment will be covered, unless they say, nope, rear wheels can not be adjusted on a stock Mazda 5

I also have had this problem on our 2009 GT. When I had it aligned locally they said that they could not adjust the rear camber. I guess I'll be ordering these as well. Thanks for the link. BTW they are $109.99 now.
