Replacing the engine on a Mazda 5 - diesel (Y6)
Hi,
My brother has a Mazda 5, diesel - 2015 with about 18,000 km on the odometer. Last summer, the timing belt broke, and according to the workshop, the engine is considered scrap.
He is now selling it cheaply, and I am considering buying it from him and replacing the engine. However, it seems impossible to find a Y6 engine here in Sweden for a Mazda 5. On the other hand, I find that designation on engines that have been in the Mazda 3.
My question is, can I buy one of those from the scrapyard, and will they fit more or less directly?
Best regards, Olle

The Mazda 3 & 5 are very similar in design. If you can find a similar year Mazda 3 Y6 engine and use the manifolds & sensors off your old engine, then you should be fine. Just make sure everything looks identical.
