Remove panel below steering wheel Mazda 5
I need to change a AV module witch is part of unoriginal stereo, installed by Mazda workshop. The module seems to be placed behind panel marked with a blue X (see picture 1). This job should take approximately 45 seconds, but to get to the module is not so easy. I cant get to the module from below because there is some ventilation and steering shafts in the way from that side. I have therefore figured the most logical approach is one of two or bought ways to get to the module.
Alternate 1
Access the module from above by removing underside of panels below the steering wheel. (picture 2)
Here i find three screws to remove from below. 1 and 2 is easy to get to and remove, 3 is above an edge so its seems harder to get to by a screwdriver (any tips how to?) or maybe I need to remove the panel below (alternate 2) to manage to get this screw loose? How about the airbag, any danger to release it if i opens the panel below the steering wheel?
Alternate 2
remove the entire panel (picture 3)
Here I have found two screws to remove, 1 behind the engine cover opener and one behind the panel for the gearbox. How to remove/get back on the engine cover opener? something i need to since the screw is behind it (1), where can i find the rest of the screws to remove this panel?
any help would be much appreciated

I haven't tried to remove that panel on my father's Mz5, however I can tell you how the same panel in the Mz3 comes out. On the Mz3 the panel itself is held on by a whole bunch of tension clips, and one (count 'em) screw. The screw in question on the 3 is under (or above depending on your point of view) the hood release lever. Also in order to remove the 3's panel you have to remove the outer driver's kick panel as it overlaps the lower dash panel.
So on the 3:
-remove driver's door sill (pull up to release clips)
-remove driver's kick panel (remove push anchor, then pull towards back of car)
-pop hood release loose from panel (put screwdriver above the release and push up on the panel to clear the little tab from a notch in the panel)
-unscrew the single screw behind the hood release lever
-grab the left side of the lower dash panel and pull towards the back of the car to start releasing the clips... work your way around the panel until they're all loose.
-unplug the wiring harnesses from the switches on the left of the panel.
From other stuff I took apart on my father's car it was pretty similar to the 3 so hopefully that should help you out.
