Default Rear suspension noise

Hi all, just finally found solution to the knocking on my Mazda 5 at low speed.
This is Bulletin issued to North American dealers from Mazds
http://www.finishlineperformance.com...35-07-1844.pdf

It a large blob of weld in the suspension cup that displaces the spring causing it to knock.

The pdf also has details about squeaking suspension.
hope this helps someone

Sorry about the link.

Basically the low speed knocking has been due a blob of weld on the rear spring cups.
It allows the spring to knock the side of the cup.

This will be apparent at low speed especially with no weight in the back.

This only effected mazda 5's upto 2007.

The rear springs need removing and the weld grinding out, paint on some sealant, job done.

Before you do the above, just check all rear suspension component 1st movement 1st. If you cannot find a problem, then its the spring cups.
Hope this helps you

I have a 2006 Mazda 5 with a loose metallic clunk/rattle from the LH rear when going over small bumps. At first I though there was something loose in the spare wheel well (it turned out there wasn't). The sway bar mounts and end links felt solid, as did the shocks (I had looked at various Mazda 3 forums which suggested these as possible causes).

Having found this thread, I decided to check the spring. Without removing anything, I found that the lower end of the coil spring has broken off, and is loose in the suspension are cup (you can move the broken bit around with a finger poked up into the cup from below - the sound is just like that heard inside the car).

Next thing is to remove the spring, and find out if there is the problem blob of weld, which could have caused the breakage.
