Rear shocks already

Had my 5 for 2 months (it's 2007 with 45k on the clocks) and yesterday it developed a rattle at the rear, took the shock out and it seems as though its the culprit. It doesn't seem to have lost all it's fluid, but it's not smooth, and makes a funny clunk noise when you depress it. Apparently according to the original owner, it's only ever had one replacement shock.

I've just picked up a pair of Sachs shocks from euro car parts £120, hopefully these will last longer than the mazda ones, hoping the sachs aren't the OEM supplier lol.

We've got a 1000 miles trip across Europe next week, so hopefully it all goes smoothly tonight.

Mazda 5 OEM Shocks not so good apparently: https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/maz...garbage-28399/

Seriously, my 2006 Mazda 6 Wagon? :(

Fitted them last night, nice and simple job to do. The knocking has gone, so hopefully this is the only rear shocks I ever have to change on it.

Good job going aftermarket. I have said this a bunch of times, but will say it again. I replaced my original busted shocks (after replaced twice under warranty) with aftermarket ones, and SO FAR, the replacements are flawless. Aftermarket shocks often have a lifetime warranty too - Mazda does not offer the same - If they did they'd probably go bankrupt.

I replaced mine with KYB - mine is also an 07. Only problem i had was i didnt do the small nut up tight enough on the top of the shock so if you get a tinkling / metallic vibrating that will be your culprit.

Ford shocks are "shocking" quality the Sachs ones should be massively better

just got back from an 800 mile trip across europe and the shocks are fine. She also averaged an actual 35 UK mpg, computer said 39mpg so not too far out. Just need to sort out a hestitaion on patial throttle, I'll try and source another throttle body and see if that sorts it. Apart from that the car is awesome and a joy to drive. Shame it doesn't have cruise control though
