Mazda 5 Remote Key distance

I thought I was the only one but I found a co worker of mine that has the same Mazda 5 and she was also having problems when trying to lock the car from a longer distance. I would say 20 to 30 feet I couldn't lock the car even if I put it on my chin.( They said this works but not on my case. :-) ) Every time I would complain about it in the dealership, they would give me this bull answer like, "it depends on where you at sometime there interferance on the radio" something like that. I have 2 newer cars that has stock keyless entry and they are working fine. It's annoying when you kinda forget locking your car and you already walk 30 , 40 feet away your car and then get closer to the car just to lock it. Are there ore users out there having the same problem?

grrr..posted in wrong letter. Anyway, as I was saying, we had the same thing happen.. We picked up our Mazda 5 last February, 2006. It wasn't long before remote worked intermittantly, sometimes leaving car, but not upon returning. Last servicing I complained to service manager and he has ordered a new one. I did try changing the battery as well, but no dice. I will let you know if prob. exists with new RC.

Not the answer you are looking for, but interesting non the less.

Try pressing the unlock button close to a phone when there is someone near to the car with a mobile (In a call with your phone) Amazingly the locks will unlock.

It sounds unbelievable, but I tried it... I unlocked a car 200 miles away!!!
