Locking flywheel to do headgasket
Hi all,
my mate's dad (retired mechanic) is fixing my poorly Mazda 5.
he is trying to fix the head gasket and says he needs to lock the flywheel.
anyone with any insight into how he can do this?

1.8, is that the L8 engine?
I don't have the 1.8 in my market, however, it appears to have the basics of all "L" series engines.
To lock the crankshaft you remove a bung from the back of the engine & install a special service tool.
Also you need to lock the camshafts, as they have no keyway on the pulleys, nor any timing marks.
