buying an early model mazda 5
interested in a couple of mazda 5's in my local listing. One is a 2007 and the other a 2008 model.
Are there any common issues among these early models ? anything particular I should look out for during the inspection? thanks. |
Solid motor/trans. Wheels/Rims are not forgiving to potholes. Check rims for damage, usually occurs on the inside of the rim so it is not easily seen from the street side. #3 motor mount may need to be changed. Look under the hood, mount that supports the motor on the passenger side. One that has failed will have oil stains showing. Other than that, should serve you well

Manual transmissions seem to have a clutch issue. Many complaints of them wearing out after 40k.
I had a front wheel bearing go out at 80k (look to see if any tire rub marks on shock assembly). Rear shocks need to be replaced often. Thermostat out after 80k. CD player went dead after 100k. No deal breakers. |
I thought people usually prefer manual transmissions. I guess it depends on location/demographic factors.

My 2008 is need in need of replacing with a newer model. I'm going to get an auto simply because I drive for rideshare and 8 hours of shifting takes its toll on my hand and shoulder. |
