Default Broken timing belt

Hi. I own a Mazda 5 2007 Diesel car (CD 110 2.0L engine). A few days back, I was driving my car and suddenly I heard a thump and the car stopped. After that, it wouldn't start again. I opened the bonet and noticed that the timing belt was broken. I would like to know whether this particular engine is an interference or non interference engine (free spin)? Do you think the broken timing belt would have damaged the engine ? If it is non-interference I understand I just have to fix a new timing belt. I have been reading through the Mazda forums and other online information. But there are no firm answer.

Your expert advise in this regard will be highly appreciated.

If you are able to see the belt just by opening the bonnet, you might be looking at the drive belt, aka serpentine belt. Any pics?
