air bag light flashing

hi. I have a mazda 5 2006. it has a host of problems but the latest is the air bag light flashing
three times slow and four times fast.
if I lock and unlock the drivers door a couple of times with the key that will put the light out for about 30 mile give or take.
makes no sence to me how the two would be related.
can anyone shed some light on this for me. thanks
I fogot to mention I plugged a code reader in and no codes showed up

According to the service manual that's a code 34

Passenger-side pretensioner seat belt circuit resistance high
Passenger-side pretensioner seat belt circuit short to power supply
Passenger-side pretensioner seat belt circuit short to body ground
Passenger-side pretensioner seat belt circuit resistance low

possible causes are:
Open or short circuit in wiring harness between passenger-side pre-tensioner seat belt and SAS control
module
Passenger-side pre-tensioner seat belt malfunction
SAS control module malfunction

I know this post is two months old but it was the first I found when looking for the info myself,
and it would have saved me a days trawling through dross to find it if there had been a reply.

as for what to do next,
you could check the connections (after disconnecting battery and waiting at least a minute for the airbag systems built in battery to drain) they might have loosened with movement or cleaning.
or try replacing the seat belt tensioner plenty on ebay and the like..
or finally hope its not the SAS control module because from what I've read so far that seems like a dealer reprogram job.

cheers,
Laldie
