Is the 2012 Mazda 5 touring Bluetooth compatible?
Hey gang
new here, from Chicago Illinois. I have a 2012 Mazda 5. I have the touring edition which is the basic one. No Bluetooth, sunroof , fog lamps and etc. question is, I would love to buy a used Mazda 5 steering on eBay that has Bluetooth options. That being said, how do I make sure it’s gonna work? I saw on eBay that they also sell used OEM Mazda 5 Bluetooth modules. If I install both can I finally have Bluetooth in my van? Thanks!

You would need wiring, stereo interface, microphone and possibly a new BCM.
You would be better off buying an aftermarket bluetooth system eg Parrot. Or replace the headunit with a aftermarket unit that has built in bluetooth.

that’s very unfortunate as I found a used Mazda 5 steering wheel with all the buttons. I thought that’s all I would need. I found a used BCM at cheap price on eBay. Both wheel and bcm will run me at $90 total maybe $120. I wanna Lee it factory as much as I can.
I get the wanting to leave it factory, and I do tend to like the physical button interface of OE stereo head units. That said if you throw in a double din unit with modern tech features you won’t be sorry about it.
I sat on replacing the stereo in my ‘05 3 for the entire time I used it because I didn’t want to lose the external screen w/ clock (on that model it was integral to the stereo), and I liked the look. Instead I did a series of one off modules plugged into it to provide first an audio input, and then a Bluetooth module. It was nice to have, but a replacement stereo is a much smoother interface.
