2008 Mazda 5 front shock knocking
My 2008 Mazda 5 has around 36k miles on it and yesterday I noticed that the driver's side front shock makes a harsh knocking sound when I go over a speed bump. Is this a common problem and will the dealership fix it under warranty??

the fronts are struts and struts will make noise when they are going bad. consult owners manual for warranty info. not sure if it will be covered as it is a wearable item. always replace shocks or struts in pairs.

thanks! at least now I can explain it to the dealership. I found replacement ones online for $107 so they can't gouge me.

have the mounts checked as well just to be safe. if the mount is broken it will be under warranty

My 2006 has done this same thing since I got it brand new. It only does it when it's cold out. I did some research back then and found that a lot of people were experiencing the same thing.

Check the struts and if not then check the sway bar bushings. I had mine replace for 40 bucks. I did have a blown strut at 50K though. Mine kept making a clanking noise when going over speed bumps and uneven roads.
