2008 Mazda 5 clutch adjustment/replacement
I have a 2008 Mazda 5 with a manual transmission and the clutch is starting to slip at about 80,000 miles. I checked the factory manual, and there doesn't seem to be any clutch adjustments possible although there is one test for determining that the clutch disengages at the proper pedal depth. (The service manual didn't say what to if the pedal is out of spec since there doesn't seem to be any adjustment.) Are there any clutch or pedal adjustments I am missing that might help?
If there are no clutch adjustments, then it seems that I will need to change the clutch soon. Has anyone out there that has changed the clutch on a Mazda 5? Is it difficult? If I do change it, will using a high performance clutch kit give me a longer service life? Any other thoughts or advice? Thanks Dave M Tucson, AZ |
The only adjustment is clutch pedal freeplay if it even has that. Personally i prefer the factory clutch to a high performance clutch.
