So the take home from this OP. If you have a new battery that's working fine keep it as long as it's working fine. If you're building a little system see how it does with everything stock. If you get a little dimming just at peak output look into a capacitor. If your battery starts to go replace it with a better maintenance free battery, but no need to go for a crazy expensive battery for a regular system. If you're putting in something really powerful look into a HO alternator to run everything.

im not getting any dimming at all. so far i have 4 b&c speakers and 4 rockford tweeters installed with an amp . i just got a 15" subwoofer and when i get the 1200 watt amp for it i will install it. so i was thinkin when i get the sub installed then i would prob get dimming. so thats why i thought i might need to get a different battery. i didnt kno yellow tops had issues. so is it safest to just get a better battery than stock? the car is about 3 months old so the battery is new. just worried about dimming once i put in the sub woofer and the amp . thanx for all your info by the way

I'm sure much of that will depend on just how much you crank it up!

Yes, In my opinion, those batteries are a scam because they look cool but don't produce.

The owner/ADMIN on my other Mazda forum lives in Japan and has a 3 rotor Enos. He had a red top in it until recently and had nothing but trouble with it. Said he has done much better with a Mazda factory replacement battery.
Take our advice and spend your money wisely. You could easily buy two high quality batteries for what the red/yellow tops cost, and be much better off for it.

I would definitely just wait and see what happens. If you get dimming then turn down the sub a little to reduce it until you can get a better battery or install a capacitor. Also make sure to occasionally check the water level in the battery. Like I said above (or on another page.... whatever) they're not the best batteries but it's not worth just chucking it while it's still working fine.

I only agreed because i was starting to think i was "overthinking" the situation, besides your kinda like the resident aftermarket accessories expert on here :P.
