Default usb will not detect... usb

Hi, hoping this is just something that I have overlooked. searching online and on this site returned nothing useful

2012 mazda 3

all of a sudden the stereo will not recognise a usb stick. pressing the aux button displays 'BT searching', pressing the aux button again does not change that, after about 10 seconds of failing, it reverts back to playing the radio. I have tried different usb sticks.

help, I want my music back

yes, one of the usb sticks has worked for 6 months (since I purchased the car). it just stopped mid song and will not play again. it did that once before, I got it working again by plugging another usb stick in and then switching back to the original one, had no further issues until a couple of weeks ago. I even bought a new usb stick yesterday and chucked about 20 mp3's on it... It does not appear to recognise that the usb port is in use. so... stereo? usb port? me?

Only thing I can suggest is pop the fuse to the stereo, plug the usb stick in, and reinstall the fuse. See if that works.

I checked the manual but could not find the fuse box location so...
Interior Fuse Box Location: 2010-2013 Mazda 3 - 2010 Mazda 3 i 2.0L 4 Cyl.
(my fuse box is on the passenger side though)

but doing as you suggested and then disconnecting the battery when that did not work, still did not get it working

thank you anyway

Take it to an aftermarket installer for advice. IMO.

I tried the original usb stick and it now works (pressing the AUX button a second time switches it to 'IPOD' mode, that did not work before) So I have to assume the resetting the stereo by removing the fuse/disconnecting the battery is what actually fixed it (thank you Kevinpk )

No idea why the other usb stick does not work, will reformat it back to FAT32 and try it again
