Default Which Transmission Range Sensor part / repair at dealer or elsewhere?

My '08 Mazda3 will not start in park, only neutral. From what I have read it seems it is the Transmission Range Sensor (I believe also called Neutral Safety Switch, unless they are different components...?). Is there a specific OEM part that I need to get for the car, or can I just buy any TRS at a parts store?

Should I avoid getting it repaired at the dealer? They wanted something like $150 just to analyze the problem, aside from parts and labor, so I am not so sure about going in there just for the labor either.

Are you still covered under warranty? It does sound like the switch is going out and needs to be replaced or needs to be adjusted (IF thats possible). What engine do you have? Need that info to help you out more If you fill out your signature that would help us out even more too, never have to ask then

I have a 2008 regular Mazda3 i, the 2.0L. I do not believe it's covered under warranty since it's a 2008? Unless it goes to 2013 but I don't know if this would be covered. I have had this issue for over a year now just never felt it was a necessary fix until I thought about installing a remote start for winter...

Question 87 626 automatic does not like 4 gear, Safty Switch adjustment

87 Mazda 626, I does not like to go into 4 gear unless I tap/giggle the shifter. I see that on top of the "neutral safety switch there looks to be a small phiups screw , can I make it go into 4th easier by adjusting this? Also where is the automatic transmission vacuum modulator located and how do I just that? Thank you
