why....you already have a stock one that works right? so why add such a worthless gaudy item, the slow and the curious movie has been out for a while now so there is no need to rice your ride

Regardless of what you think, Tracker is right. The only thing a large tach like that will do for you is make you look silly.

They're best left for drag cars or anything other car that's being raced, where you need such a big display for your RPMs. Assuming you get all the leads taken car of, where will you mount it?

Btw, calling something "gay" is not only ignorant, but makes you look even worse. I'd advise you against it. Then again, that's also a comment that has nothing to do with your question, innit? :)

To the OP: Please see my comment above. If you're that offended by someone disagreeing with you then the internet is going to be a really difficult place for you.

Now that we're through with that..... I'm not sure what wire you would need to tap to get the tach signal for your new auxiliary tach, so I can't really help you out there. I second that I'm not really sure why you're installing a new one...... generally people install large tachs on their cars because they either: A) don't have one already, or B) they're racing with high horsepower cars where raising the rpms to high too fast will result in blowing up their car so they want a large visible gauge.

Incidentally what is your reason for installing one? Where are you planning on mounting it...... dash mounted, pillar mounted, custom housing, etc., etc.? What features are you looking for that the stock one doesn't provide? Which one did you decide on?

There is no such wire.

The factory cluster uses what is called a CAN BUS.

It works like a computer network.

The only way would be to install an AUTOMETER TACHOMETER ADAPTER on the ignition system.

I had one on my P5 for the longest time. Works very easily, is a pain in the ass to install and I have two of them sitting in a box if you want it..
