Strange sound when A/C compressor is on
Hey guys,
Please help me, I'm the proud owner of a Mazda 3 2009 Hatch 2.0L and for about some time there has been a sound coming out of the compressor when the a/c is on, but when is off the sound goes away. My mechanic told me that it is the compressor and that I definitely have to change it, but the a/c is really working well day by day, the only problem is the sound, so I'm not pretty sure that's the issue, so any of you maybe know the answer to my predicament?.
Here is a video I made, you can see that when the ac is off the sound stops. I'm new in the forum so if the video is not visible I apologize
.
Thanks,

Ya, not visible. a link would have worked. Now first things first, something can sound bad and still work, but it still needs to be fixed. The sound is just a warning to you, be thankful for it. Most things just quit.
It could also be any part of the clutch for the compressor though, so it might not be the compressor itself. On the flip side, if you replace the compressor now you may need to only replace your compressor. If you wait till the compressor dies and injects metal shavings into your AC tubing, you will be replacing sooo much more!
So figure out what it is and fix it.

Jeff, thanks so much for quick response, very sorry here is the link of the video:
. I forgot to write it on the first post, I'm from Ecuador and in here a compressor is very very expensive, almost $1500 without service. I did tried to find in all places what else could it be, I did found that the clutch could be the problem and if it is the replacement is so much more affortable. I did wanted to change the compressor, but for it I have to be pretty sure for the investment.
