Speed3 rattle and new tires
 

Just a couple questions for Speed3 owners out there.

(1) I am in Ottawa with my 2010 Speed3 and I have developed many winter rattles. The front bushing have already been replaced once (warranty) and are looking to be worn out again already, last year the rear shocks (warranty) and it looks like the rear shocks are toast again (warranty?) Just wondering if anyonre driving this car in the winter has found better aftermarket replacements than the OEMs which obviously don't see to handle Canadian winters well.

(2) I will be buying my 5th set of tires this spring (2 winter, 3 summer) and was most unhappy with my summer replacements last time - General UHPs that were just terrible (wear, chirping, handling, you name it). I am thinking Michelin Pilot Super Sport this time, but am wondering if ayone else has had some good expereinces with them on the 3, especially compared to the original Dunlops (also a little chirpy).

2) Had never heard of General tires before, quick look and they fall into same category with Nankang from my point of view (Best used for swings in a playground).
Michelin is probably ok, but why go French when at least I haven't seen them shine in any tests or reviews? I had ContiSportContact 3s in my 07 MPS and they were close to perfect, bit too much of rolling resistance maybe. Then in my last car I had Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym 2s and they were even better, although I only did maybe 2000 miles on them before winter came and now that the Volkscrapgen is gone, I just ordered Goodyears Efficient Grip Performance for next summer.

Out of curiosity, what size and make are your winter tyres?

Get some Bridgestone RE002 tyres. Also get a good wheel alignment, run your tyres at 40psi and keep a keen eye for uneven wear. MPS's/3speed's are terrible for chewing the inside shoulders out very fast.

I am running Dunlop sp winter sports 225 45r17
It might just be compared to the generals but I am pretty happy with them in a Canadian winter

Not sure that the RE002s are available in Canada unless they are branded under a different model name...
