If you are hitting turbo right before you are going to turn the car off, yes. Let it idle for 30 seconds. This allows the turbo to cool down and the oils to do what they need to do. This is what a Turbo Timer does to your car. It lets your car idle after turning it off for a bit so as not to damage the car.

2 minutes is excessive.

Personally, whether I was hitting the boost or not, I'd let a turbo car idle for 30 seconds prior to shutdown.

The owners manual covers this information as well. I think the number is about 30 seconds.

p.s. it is my understanding, and I may be wrong, that the turbo on the Speed 3 is both oil and water cooled and it has bearings rather than only using oil possibly making the temperature less of an issue.

You know what I noticed with my car? When i shut it off there is still something purring underneath the hood. sounds like a fan or something.

It could be the electric cooling fan, or some have said that they hear the power steering pump (electric) groaning after shut down. I have heard that from time to time w/my n/a 3, but not always.

A lot of cars have a fan that will run after the car shuts off. I figure that when I hear it running it means I should have let the engine idle just a bit longer prior to shutting it off since it is obviously warmer than it wants to be.
