Hi all,

I've unfortunately sheared my bonnet rod / stay from the plastic housing. The housing itself has completely snapped from the main plastic unit the spans (the majority of) the width of the engine bay.

It looks like the plastic has completely perished which isn't great from a 4 year old car but I suspect at some point the area has been cleaned / treated with a substance that has contributed to its swift demise!

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I'm not convinced that glue or a makeshift repair would last but it would seem like massive overkill to have the entire unit replaced and would likely got a couple off hundred ££ for the privilege..
