Default Shark Fin

I've seen some have a 'shark fin' antenna. Is that just for asthetics or does it really provide better AM/FM radio reception? I wouldn't think it would pick up much unless it's only used for SAT.

i just did this mod about a month ago, the sharkfin makes the car look 10x better and the reception is about the same. Possibly a little bit worse but the benifits of the looks outweigh the negatives of the slightly less reception imo

i have the sharkfin on my mazda6 and it looks awesome. the reception tends to be worse than the stock antenna being that the shark find is not only lower profile but the antenna is only like 1.5inches

sharkfin looks nice as hell BUT if reception really bothers you, you can always get CX-7 stubby or stubby off an acura.

I understand it's a good place to hide your SAT antenna.
Plus the one out of Canadahas a dummy load coil built in. And if you live inor near a populated area, I wouldn't think the reception would suffer noticeably.

Thanks
The reception already isn't all that great so I think I'll leave it alone.

Which one is out of Canada?, Richard. I would like to get one as well.

It's the same one XenonStore carries, but it can be had directly too. www.visualgarage.com
