Service recommendations for MANUAL transmission

Every thread I search for seems to turn up maintenance and upkeep for automatics.

On the manual: how often should the fluid be changed? Flushed?
Does it have a filter or screen... and if so, how often should the filter be changed?
Anything else I should know?
Thanks!

Never, leave it alone and drive it. ;)

That said, if you want to gain a little slicker shifting, you might want to consider changing to a synthetic gear oil, then again, if you live in the South, synthetic proably won't gain you as much as it does me when it's below zero out there and the car's been sitting in a parking lot for 8 hours. :p

It usually gets about as low as 25 to 30 at times during the winter. Majority of the time it's somewhere between 32-50 during winter.

Hmmm, at freezing my shifter feels a bit stiff for a mile or so, but that certainly wouldn't be enough to get me to mess with the gear oil. ;)
