Replacing stock CD/Radio

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is a re-post but, I recently purchased a 2008 Mazda 3i Touring. I am unable to unlock the trip computer. I am looking to purchase a 2006/2007/2008 Radio (with trip computer functionality).

My question is, will the replacement radio be 'plug and play' or will I need to configure/program it? Is there certain years that are compatible with each other?

any help would be appreciated!

other than making sure you buy the samething your replacing i.e either single or 6cd. Im not sure if the wiring is different or not

Ok, thanks. So if I go from single-cd to 6-cd, I may have to purchase a new wiring harness? That's simple enough, it's the 'programming' of the radio I'm trying to avoid.

There shouldn't be any programming required. Depending on the radio you get you may still need to unlock the DIS function. DIS is unlockable on all '06-'07 HU's. For '08 models it's only unlockable on the 6CD changer. For '08.5+ models you have to purchase the specific HU with that function.... i.e. they stopped including it on all the stereos and the HU's with it actually have a separate p/n. There's no difference in the harness between single CD and 6CD.

Really the only issue you'll run in to is if you have a '08.5 model. If your build date is after 1/1/08 then you do.
