remote starter

I just had a remote start installed by mazda dealer, manual says rear window defrost should come on with remote start but it doesn't. Dealer says that feature is no longer available, can anyone confirm this or did they forget to connect it into remote unit? Manual also talks about an override switch if remote fails and you need to start car by key with alarm sounding, I cant seem to find this does anyone know the location?

Ok, i can help you.

To get the defroster to come on, after the car has started up using the remote start push the start button one more time and you should see the rear defroster come on. That is how mine works, and I doubt they would have taken the feature away.

The override switch should be down near your left foot on the kick plate when you are sitting in the drivers seat, it has a black casing around it except for on the end where you can push this button..

let me know if you find any of these or get them to work.

RE: remote starter

I havw a mazda 3 2007. My directions are same as yours. The dealer says there is n o wire to hookup as I took it back for repair as it would not work on mine either. I wonder if we got an inferior product as I have other start problems. In cold weather it would not work, and then the car would not start. I had it towed as a result. They replaced a relay that would frost up at around -23 C. Now it still fails as the engine only seems to turn over about 1/2 turn and then quits. So much for a costly option. I wonder if there were choices as I paid the dealer option price
