Default Purchasing a 3 Hatchback

Hi, new to the forum. I'm thinking of purchasing a 2020 3 Hatchback (base trim level). I had a 2014 3 with the 2.5L and a 2015 with the 2.0. Loved both cars. I'm in the negotiating process. The only thing holding me back is the CX-30, which is essentially the same car just lifted a bit. Is there anything I should look out for with the Hatchback that I may be not aware of? Does it have cylinder deactivation on the base model? (I hope not lol).

Thank you

*Just realized all 3's have the cylinder deactivation.

As far as I'm aware, the base model has the 2.0 engine, which doesn't have cylinder deactivation, only the 2.5 engine has it.

In the US, all Mazda3s have the 2.5 engine. I believe they all have Cylinder Deactivation.

Read the website for the features of all trim levels to make sure you are getting what you want with the level you are buying. I would focus on what is included in the upper levels to identify what is missing. I have been burned in the past with a basic feature that was excluded from the level I bought.

Thanks. I ended up getting a CX-30 which does not have the CD (only Premium trim level does).

Congratulations on your new purchase. I have not had any problems with cylinder deactivation in my 2019 Mazda3 but I would have avoided it if possible and give up the 1mpg savings.
