Default Power steering pump noise.

is anyone else experiencing this problem/ this car has been a piece of **** to me.

any solution/

thank you
Although my son's 07 3S power steering has never failed, the pump did
develop a low level howling type noise after several months. Of course,
the dealer said nothing to worry about. Coming up on 4 years/70k and
the power steering is still working fine. I believe the recall involves power
steering failure.

The thing is from what I understand, the recall is on the pump itself.
In my case it was the electric motor that was the issue.

Right, the recall is for the pump, but whose to say what's causing the
whining or howling noise I,m getting. My guess it's the pump and when
you removed the fluid reservoir cap it's very audible. Hope the noise
might be a pre-pump failure symptom which the recall may cover if the
pump fails. What happened to the electric motor?

Both with the old pump and the new pump.

Just what type of noise is it, the same noise only louder than normal, or a different noise?

Its the same noise but its louder. The funny thing is I heard the same noise at my friends 07 mazda and its currently waiting for parts for power steering issue. She almost got in an accident due to power steering going out on her once. The same noise is heard from my car. If the noise is normal then I should of heard the same noise on the new car I tested at the dealership. I couldn't trust the techs there so I thought I would go there and compare my car to the new one myself. And my car definitely produce louder noise.

Are you experiencing the same issue as I am? 2010 mazda 3?

Thats good to hear. I have one question though. Has the car been to the shop for the recall? or still waiting? I'm hoping that they will recall 2010 models too. This whining sound is very annoying when I'm driving at a low speed without my music on. Also my friends tell me its loud every time I pull in to park and they are standing there. There has to be something wrong with the pump to my guess.

To hear the pump for outside of the vehicle is normal. It's just different from anything you are used to. Don't get so paranoid over this. Most likely they fixed the problem with the '10s.

Called Mazda cust. svc. and they say my vin# is not on the recall list. As
far as the noise, sounds like when you exhale over an empty bottle, and
hasn't gotten any louder. According to the recall, rust particles are getting
into the pump and it shuts down. Call them at 1-800-222-5500 with yr
vin# and see what gives.

I need to remember multi-quote. What issue are you having? I just have
the noise for the last 4 years. If mine goes and I'm not recalled, I hope by
then an after market unit will be avlb.

For what it's worth, I thought I screwed up an oil change or something, when
the noise developed after several months on my 07. Went to dealer, test
drove a new one, no noise. Beginning to look they have a big problem, and
hope Mazda does the right thing.
