Question Please help

Hey guys I ordered an intake system for my 2012 Mazda 3 2.0L. Turns out they sent me the wrong system because it is meant for the skyactiv engine. Everything works fine but the MAF sensor screws do not line up correctly with the area for the MAF in the intake pipe. I was wondering if I can just seal the stock MAF into the pipe and it will work just fine? Or will I need to go find a skyactiv MAF and use that instead and if I do that instead, will it be fine to use a skyactive MAF without having a skyactiv engine?

I would send it back and get the right one. The maf from another engine may not read the same. I would never try to just seal one in that's doing a **** poor job.

Thing is I waited to long for them to accept a return on it. So now im stuck with it seeing if theres anyway i could get it to work. It's going to sound ridiculous but i had it tapped down and it was fine, but every now and then it would go into limp mode, idk if it was because of the engine not liking the filter or if it was just because air was getting around the MAF, Like I said it fits perfectly in there but the screw holes are unaligned therefore i cant screw it down securely

Right. I'm one of those guys I'd make it work somehow myself. So I'd first check for leaks around it. If no leaks. That intake may be messing with the airflow over the sensor. I've had it happen on vehicles in the past if the sensor was to close to the filter or such. My eclipse and celica where both very finnicky with maf placement in the ductwork

I have an extra MAF there, I was just thinking about gluing it sealed and seeing if it'll be fine like that or not. But once I do that there's no going back, I have no other use for the pipe so I might go ahead and try that and it doesn't work then im out of luck, just debating if I should try it with the skyactiv MAF first or not...

I don't know the difference in the mafs of these cars. Kinda new to Mazdas had me a old 92 protoge and a 06 protoge.
I'd normally say no harm in trying. I assume the skyactive has the same wire harness plug. Just make sure what ever you use is fully cured as not to suck in and get on the sensor.

What do you believe is the best to get it sealed down properly? Gorilla glue or some type of sealant?

Would I be able to use any random sealant? Like roof sealant? or anything of that sort? I don't have nay other sealant lying around I might just use glue at this point because it basically fits anyways I just need it to be completely secured down
