Octane

I am only working on my third tank of gas - so I haven't had much time to experiment. Anybody notice performance/gas mileage differences between 87 - 91 octane gas?

I have the 2.0, but it would be interesting to hear about the 2.3 also.

Seems I remember reading an article, that the standard 3 is designed to operate most efficiently on regular fuel, and that any higher octane offers no benefit.

I agree. A higher octane is'nt going to do anything worth the extra cash. Even every-so-often. Stick with the Reg. and feel good. When i joined the Mazdaspeed3 club, i had to start pumping Premium.

Yep. That is one of the only drawbacks to the S3. But with the increased mileage over my Explorer, I still come out ahead.

I always ran regular when I had my 3 and she ran strong. But with the turbo I'm switiching over to a higher octane, as they say you should with the ms3's.

>.> i may be wrong but i believe you have two choices, Premy or harm the engine in the case of the MS3.
