New Tires
Hello, i have a 2008 mazda 3. I am buying a set of new tires. Which of these two do you perfer. My ori. ties which is TOYO only go for 35,000mi. They both look about the same. I am just not sure which would be best for Colorado driving. A T speed or H speed.

Do a little more shopping, and stop when you get too Yokohoma 520's.
Those are the ones that got very good reviews , over and over. The badyears would be your worst choice. Bob. |
Thanks Bob, do you think that tread will be ok in snow?

From the reviews I have read, these yokos are the one too buy.
They perform well in all conditions, including rain and snow. These will be the tires I replace my badyears with, when the time comes. Bob. |
There are several threads here about tires for the 3. My 2007 came with Goodyear Eagle RSA that wore out at 18K miles so stay away from those.
My 2010 3 came with Yokohama Avid S34's. They seem to handle and ride well and decent in the rain, but I have less than 200 miles on the car. I have heard great reviews on the 520 also. If cost is a factor or if you are not going to keep the car a long time, I put Kumho Ecsta's on my 2007 and was very pleased with them. You can probably find these in the size for your car for around $110 each. They are shown as an "all season" tire so I think they would be ok where you live, but check with the tire dealer to be sure. |
I bought the Yokohama YK520's back in April to replace the Eagle RSAs that came with my car. I drive pretty aggressively and the wear on the tires has not even begun to show. They stick to the road and perform really well wet and dry. I would definitely buy them again. The only thing I did notice when switching to the V rated tires was the road noise. There is a slight bit more noise than with the stock tires but not so much that you can't have a conversation with someone next to you. Shop around though because I noticed the priced varied significantly with several different retailers.
