Default Need new TIRES...any favorites?

My 2006 M3 is in great need for new tires at 30.000.
I do mostly highway driving in the midwest...
and...I'd like my MAZDA to be able to keep up with my foot.
Also, would like to avoid hydro-planing and sledding in the snow.
ANY FAVORITES?? (I think I'm stuck with a All-Season, right?)[:'(]

Thanks!
Annie

I had good luck with Toyo Proxes FZ4's. They weren't an all-weather tire, but they seemed to do just fine (and I drive in the snow quite a bit.)

BFG Traction T/A are great all-season tires. Good treadlife and performance qualities. I am on my second set currently.

I'm using yokohama YK520's. I have about 20k miles on them and they barely show any wear.... they also shine very easily. :P They're about $116/ea. and have a 60k miles treadwear warranty.

Thanks for the input! I've taken your thoughts gratefully!! Tire Discounters had recommended a couple tires, too. (Toyo Proxes T1R $176 and BFG SuperSport A/S $160)
TOYO tires get a lot good reviews from what I've seen. Goodrich tires have a good rep. too. I don't mind a little extra money for the tighter turn, but I didn't want to buy into hype either....Your experience helps!

I really enjoy this forum! Lots of great threads to read through!

Hey... Welcome m3VAROOOM!!

WOW!!! Those prices sound pretty steep for those tires. I'd do some online price comparing to make sure you're not being "taken advantage of..." if ya' know what I mean?

Incidentally my yokohamas were from discount tire. I probably would have gone with Michellin MXV4 plus tires (same ones on my wife's car and we love them) except they're almost as much as the RSA's

I'd be interested to hear, from those making recommendations, your take on how quiet your tires are.

When I get my next set, I'd like to if possible get a set that can make my ride a bit more quiet than my original equipment Toyo Proxes A05s.

That combinedwith long tread life and decent wet road handling capabilities, would make them a winner for me.

I bought Riken Raptors about a two months ago when the stock Michelins died at 35 thou.

I am in CT and they seem to work better than the previous tires in the snow. They were cheap, and yet are Z rated with good tread wear rating.

urban, my yk520's are quieter than the RSA's were. I've not had any problems with them on wet surfaces..... I mean could I make the tires spin if I wanted? Sure. Does it come up in normal driving? No. I can't really comment on the sound vs. other tires though so I don't know how much that will help you out. I think much of the road noise would go away with dampening of the panels anyway, though obviously the tires do make a difference.
