Need Help. 2008 Mazda 3. High Temp / Loud fan.

Hi There,

I've got a few issues going on with my 08' Mazda 3 Hatchback and I'm hoping you can provide some assistance.

The good thing is that I plugged in my HyperTech computer into the ECU and my car is not reporting any error codes. (sweet!).

The issue I'm running into is that my Temp gauge is at about (75%) towards hot. Also it now sounds like there's an "extra fan" running, which is considerably louder than the "stock fan". (You can mainly only hear the extra fan when you shut off the car - it almost sounds like it's "small turbine winding down".)

I checked the coolant and the levels are good. Also I don't see any liquids/fluids leaking under the care.

Any idea what is causing the issue? Is my thermostat shot? Is the car safe to drive while I get together a few backs to have it fixed?

Thanks so much in advance for your time and advice.

If there is a noticable difference in the sound of the fan I would start there.

There should be only one fan (unless otherwise altered) so the sound of the "extra fan" could be your primary fan going out. If the motor or bearing are shot that could be causing the extra noise, sorta like if you have ever had a fan go bad in a PC.
