Mazda3 turbo sedan
Greetings all looking to bring my 08' Mazda 2.3 Sedan to life with a 2.3 Mazdaspeed turbo upgrade. Is there a kit out there? or a some kind a of parts list i can look for? I'm completely new to imports so i'm not framilar with how to go about looking for parts on this unit. I sifted threw some of the links on a diffrent thread but came up with mostly older mazda parts. Any help or info would be great :)

http://www.hiboost.com
That is the turbo I would recommend. You'll pay less for the HiBoost than you will for a MazdaSpeed turbo. This is the road I would take, unless your worried about warranty issues arising from a part(s) in your engine going bad and your dealer blaming it on the turbo. HiBoost gives you everything you need to get going with a turbo setup. Good luck my friend! |
RE: Mazda3 turbo sedan
mannnnnn thats an interesting concept. but ya should have bought the mazdaspeed3 if you wanted turbo. it was already done for you. with about the same cost as it would to put the turbo into a mz3 lol

I have the Tripoint Engineering kit on my sedan, and the kit was really impressive. Everything was in there, and there were NO mods that needed to be made. Everything was bolt on and bagged and tagged. It includes larger injectors and Tripoint Eng are great when it comes to helping you out with software upgrades etc. Comes with AEM FIC also. Check out their website. Also, I got just over 240 WHP on the Dyno, which is a little more than they promise. Plus, the kit comes with a Garrett ball bearing turbo (GT28R), which is a very nice turbo. Kit was 4K when I got it. Just keep in mind that you should do a couple things while you're at it...upgrade your clutch (I have stage 2 ACT kit) cause the extra power may melt your clutch in time, and get your exhaust done (I have 3" from downpipe and it's catless). I know there are other good kits out there...I can vouch for this one cause my car runs great and is fun as hell to drive. Just do your homework and talk to people who have them.

RE: Mazda3 turbo sedan
Yeah, the Tri-Point kit seems to the be new up-and-comer for sure. Though there isn"t a chance in hell I will be able to do it, I have been following their 06 HB around. First in SCC (twice,) then on Mazdas247.It seems like a very well thought out kit.
But as you say, after spending 4k for their kit another 1-2k needs to be put into "other" upgrades. How is the stageII and who"s do you have? I would still like to go w/a lightened flywheel (looking at the Exedy) and stageI (for streatability) someday. I figured the stageII would make the car a little lesscivil (not what I want,) especially w/a lighten fly. |

RE: Mazda3 turbo sedan
You guys may be forgetting a few things....
While it sounds like a good idea, will: 1) There be clearance for the TMIC or will it have to be refit w/a FMIC? 2) Will the axle shafts and CV joints interchange? 3) Will the PCM of the MS be compatible with an NA 3 body and accessories? 4) How about the clutch pedal and hydraulics? 5) What about an upgrade in brakes to handle all this new found power? Some of these answers I"m pretty sure of, like hood clearance for the TMIC. The MS hood has a "power bulge" for it, and I know the MS has heavy duty axles and CV"s, part of the additional weight of the car. Others I am less sure of, but someone considering this swap should find out, definitively, before attempting it. And yes, many do AM Turbo kits w/o an upgrade in brakes, though I think that"s a bad idea. Leave it to me to rain on your parade, huh? :D:D:D |
RE: Mazda3 turbo sedan
Oh, and I"m also sure that a custom exhaust would have to be created as they are not interchangeable. The chassis on the MS has additional bracing and the exhaust takes a slightly different path.
