Hp potential for the speed 3
Well guys im sure we have all thought about it but i am going to ask:
What kind of horsepower and torque potential does this car have? Lets think of bolt ons only. lets also consider that reliability will be a factor.
What is the boost psi at now?
what is the engines compression ratio at now?
what kind of aftermarket support have been provided for other mazda vehicles?
Here's my thinking:
exhaust will pick up at least 5whp probably more because of the turbo on there.
Front Mount Intercooler will reduce heat soak and keep horsepower more consistent
Intake
The chip would vary depending on the boost bump.
underdrive pulleys 4-7whp
Maybe the HFM (high flow meter)

I work for Ford in Michigan and used to work with the MS guys here in MI regularly when I worked on the Mazda6 program. The parts are still under development and aren't available to the general public yet. These parts would be available throught he dealership.
One issues id like to know about is:
Did mazda redesign certain aspects of the speed3 in order to handle the hp, turbo and related pressures?
Sometimes automotive manufacturers slap a turbo on their family sedan to make is "sporty" this usally means busted transmissions if the car is abused, broken rear ends. What happens when you start to mod these bad boys? 293 hp in a family sedan would be even worse assuming that Mazda didnt strengthen things.
I wonder what a stock mazda speed 3 would do to a corvette in a straight line?
