i thought that you could just use the av wire and hook up the amp directly to the deck and then connect the sub directly to the amp. is that not right?

These stock HU do not have the aux. outputs on them. You have to run it from the speaker lines or buy a aux. output converter.

That pissed me off.

apbbnbanb_07 you are wrong. An auxillary output is what we have in our cars for our MP3 players. What he needs is a Line Output Convertor. Which you can find at Future shop among other places. The way an amp goes to the deck is by RCA cables. And unfortunately there are no RCA hookups to the deck otherwise I would be much happier. Therefore you have to wire them up though the rear speakers in order to get the signal sent to the deck making it work. Its a pain in the *** but if you want to keep the stock deck then this is the way to go. There are people who have told me that they were going to tap into the speaker wires through the deck. I personally see that as a problem in case anything goes wrong *wire comes off or touches another wire etc* and its a lot easier to take a door panel off then the whole dashboard in order to get at the deck itself. I will be taking pictures of it when I help someone with it sometime soon.
